Logitech Delivers Best-in-Class Desktop Video and Audio For Microsoft Lync 2013 -- CORRECTED

Logitech Headsets and Webcams Bring Enterprise-Grade Audio and Optimum Video Experience to Microsoft’s New Unified Communications Platform

NEWARK, Calif. — Feb. 19, 2013 — Logitech today announced a portfolio of desktop video and audio devices Optimized for Microsoft® Lync®, delivering best-in-class performance and features for richer and more effective communication and collaboration. These products leverage the power of Lync to meet the needs of “The New Office,” where desk space is shrinking, work stations are often shared and virtual teams operating across time zones are common.

The new Logitech® USB Headset H650e delivers enterprise-grade performance with wideband audio for true-to-life sound, noise cancellation, digital signal processing (DSP), acoustic echo cancellation and a dynamic equalizer that automatically provides the best sound quality when switching between voice and music. Drawing on Logitech’s heritage in human-centric design, the Logitech USB Headset H650e introduces innovative features such as a red “in call” light at the back of the microphone boom to prevent interruptions; a flat, no-tangle cable that won’t kink or twist in knots; and an in-line controller that has raised buttons for finding the right controls just by touch, without having to look down. A lightweight design makes for all-day comfort, in both the Mono (single-ear) and Stereo (double-ear) models.

The new Logitech® Webcam C930e provides full support for H.264 SVC and UVC 1.5 video encoding technologies, both new in Lync 2013. These technologies free up PC bandwidth by compressing video within the camera and automatically adjust performance for maximum video quality when bandwidth fluctuates. Other features include a 90-degree field of view, the widest in a business webcam, digital pan-tilt-zoom that maintains a full HD image at up to 4X magnification and a Carl Zeiss® certified glass lens, for flexibility without compromising on true-to-life image quality. Logitech RightLight™ 2 technology enables the Logitech Webcam C930e to intelligently improve visual quality in low-light situations at multiple distances, and autofocus keeps the picture sharp.

Beyond the desktop, Logitech offers groundbreaking solutions for group collaboration. The award-winning Logitech® BCC950 ConferenceCam is the perfect companion for small-group meetings enabled by new features in Lync 2013, including face tracking and multiparty videoconferencing. The ConferenceCam combines a full HD webcam, offering motorized pan/tilt and digital zoom, with a high-quality full-duplex speakerphone in a unit that is affordable and easy to move from room to room.

“One of the key investments for Lync 2013 is multiparty HD video and content sharing,” said Giovanni Mezgec, general manager of Lync Product Marketing for Microsoft. “The expression ‘I see what you mean’ takes on an entirely different meaning when customers around the globe can see each other’s gestures and hear their tone of voice in a Lync meeting. Logitech’s video and audio products take full advantage of Lync 2013’s powerful communications features, whether in one-to-one conversations or group discussions.”

“There’s no such thing as a typical office anymore,” said Eric Kintz, senior vice president and general manager of Logitech for Business. “Work is increasingly spread among virtual teams, and workers are part of more of these teams than ever before. This makes enterprise-grade video and audio crucial to productivity and team effectiveness. We believe Lync 2013’s focus on multiparty collaboration brings unified communications into the future, and we’re proud to offer a portfolio of products that help make Microsoft’s vision a reality.”
